June 26 2008 Done in ballpoint pen on simple (guesstimated) 4 1/2 by 2 1/2 ft paper.

Took a year to make. Hopefully the crappy camera i used to take this picture didn't take anything away from the look of the painting.

About the meaning: in late October/early November 2006, i had a dream where i was in a huge, narrow library corridor. I was standing before these tall windows, basking in the warm glow of the sunset coming in from outside. My cousin (she's a year older than me, not saying who) approaches me from behind and says she'll "buy it from me for $500." I look down at what she was referring to, and it was this painting. I saw it for a good split second, than woke up.

I scribbled a silhouette of what i saw into a notepad after waking up, and once i finished my other painting, the baby picture called "Burden the cure", i started with this.

And then it showed this self loathing beast carry this shame on its taxed back before the discriminating eyes of the subconscious for judgment. All those eyes, watching, hating the ugly spectacle standing right in the middle. So embarrassed are they by what they see. Those eyes represent my own soul, and are the base of those pillars supporting my subconscious, my paranoia.

And all that from when i was young? Wow. I'm over all that now. I've grown stronger than my inner demons and those evil thoughts don't bother me anymore. By completing this picture, i can securely lay that old side of me to rest.

Outside influence: the shedu is a Mesopotamian beast that had the face of a human, the body of a lion or bull (however, i used a horse), 5 legs (the baby/phallus being choked serves as the "5th leg" in my painting), and wings (chains in this case). The shedu helped maintain order and fight chaos. They also guard the gates of heaven.
